St Gregory’s Badminton Club meets on a Monday evening from 8pm-11pm. Our club runs from the beginning of September to the end of April.
We play on four courts at Holmewood House School, in Langton Green, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN3 0EB. We use feather shuttlecocks. Our club nights are usually mixed or level doubles and we use the standard peg board system, for organizing the games. This works by players placing their name on the peg board on arrival, the first player in the queue picks an additional three players from the following six to make up a doubles match. Pegs are returned to the back of the queue on completing their game.
We are a well established and friendly club that welcomes new members wishing to play socially or join our teams for competitive play.
St Greg’s was started over 30 years ago and currently has a membership of 42. |
The Club is affiliated to Badminton England and competes in the Tunbridge Wells Badminton League.
At the current time we have three men’s teams, one ladies’ team, three mixed teams, several composite teams and a veteran’s team.
We have coaching available within our club and in previous years have organized external coaches to give specific training for players.
We also run a junior club on a Saturday morning at the Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre aimed at 8-15 year olds. The Junior club runs for 2 hours with Coaching, Games and Mini-Tournaments. This is a low cost, high energy activity run by a qualified Coach that runs alongside our club season and is a stepping stone to our adult club, when they have reached an acceptable standard.
We currently have a very successful junior section within our adult club who are given every opportunity to participate in our club teams. |
